With any new project, you have to say “good-bye to the old,” to be able to say “hello to the new.”

To save on project cost, I decided to DIY the removal of the current carpet, vinyl, pedestal sink and toilet.  Luckily, my mom lives close and was able to come over and assist.  With removing the current flooring, having my regular trash company pick up the discarded material, removing the pedestal sink and toilet in the half bath, I was able to save almost $400!

However, after removing the flooring, quarter round and tack strip myself, individuals who do this for a living have my utmost respect.  It is really hard work and a lot of getting up and down off the ground.

Here are some pictures of the vinyl and carpet removal.  I will remove the tack strip later this week.
